Newsroom Production Assistant

Overview

In a fast-paced news environment, you will be a Newsroom Production Assistant, giving vital help to the editorial and production teams. Your main duty will be to support the newsroom's daily operations, making sure that everything runs smoothly and that information is delivered on time to all platforms. Strong organizational abilities, meticulousness, and the capacity to perform well under duress are prerequisites for this position.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the creation and dissemination of news material. • Keeping an eye on social media, news wires, and other sources to find story leads and breaking news. • Organizing field reporter logistics, such as arranging transportation, obtaining permissions, and scheduling interviews. • Assembling and arranging images, videos, and other materials for news articles. • Helping with live broadcasts and helping to set up the studio apparatus • Preserving archives of images, papers, and news video for later use. • Giving the newsroom administrative support • Working together to assist the production process and fulfill deadlines with reporters, producers, and editors.

Requirements

• An equivalent combination of professional experience and a bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a similar discipline. • While not necessary, prior experience in a newsroom or media production setting is desired. • Strong attention to detail, organizational abilities, and capacity for efficient multitasking and work prioritization. • Outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities, as well as the capacity to collaborate in a team setting. • Knowledge of news gathering methods and resources, such as social media, content management systems, and news wires. • It helps to have a basic understanding of production methods and broadcast equipment. • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings when needed.
