As a Quantity Surveyor, your role would involve estimating and managing costs related to construction projects. You'll be responsible for preparing budgets, conducting cost analysis, and ensuring projects stay within budget. You'll also handle procurement of materials and manage contracts. It's an exciting role that requires strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Prepare cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and bill of quantities (BOQ) for construction projects based on architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements. • Conduct site visits, inspections, and measurements to assess site conditions, quantities of materials, and labor requirements for accurate cost estimation. • Analyze project specifications, drawings, and contract documents to identify scope of work, project constraints, and contractual obligations related to cost management. • Assist in the preparation of tender documents, including request for proposals (RFP), tender packages, and bid evaluations, ensuring compliance with project requirements and procurement procedures. • Evaluate contractor bids and proposals, conduct cost analysis, and negotiate contract terms and pricing to achieve best value for the project. • Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and cost forecasts throughout the project lifecycle, identifying variances, trends, and potential cost-saving opportunities. • Prepare and review interim payment applications, progress claims, and change orders, verifying quantities, costs, and contractual entitlements. • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and subcontractors to resolve cost-related issues, change requests, and claims in a timely and efficient manner. • Provide advice and recommendations on cost control measures, value engineering options, and cost-saving strategies to optimize project performance and minimize financial risks. • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and databases of cost data, contracts, and project documentation for reporting and audit purposes. • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities to address cost-related inquiries, provide financial reports, and ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements. • Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes affecting construction costs, procurement practices, and quantity surveying techniques
• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred). • Professional accreditation or certification in quantity surveying (e.g., RICS, CIQS) is an asset. • Proven experience in quantity surveying, cost estimating, and contract administration, preferably in construction or engineering projects. • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and cost factors, with the ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings and specifications. • Proficiency in quantity surveying software, cost estimating tools, and Microsoft Excel for quantity take off, cost analysis, and budget tracking. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in cost estimation and financial analysis. • Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, contractors, and project teams. • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment. • Strong organizational skills and time management abilities to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development, staying abreast of industry best practices, standards, and emerging technologies in quantity surveying.
