The Best Western Plus Accra Beach Hotel is hiring a housekeeping manager on-site for a full-time position. All guest rooms and common areas must be kept clean and well-maintained, and the Housekeeping Manager will be in charge of supervising the daily housekeeping operations. They will oversee the scheduling, training, and performance reviews of a group of housekeeping employees. The Housekeeping Manager will also work in tandem with other divisions to guarantee a satisfying visit for guests.
Property • Responsible for cleanliness, orderliness and appearance of the entire Hotel. • Prepare Annual Housekeeping Budget. • Maintain stock of guest supplies, cleaning supplies, linen and uniform. • Organize inventories with Accounts and General Store for linen, uniform and fixed assets. • Pay particular attention while organizing pest eradication activities. • Prepare reports for management information. • Assist Purchasing department in selecting suppliers for items related to Housekeeping. • Plan, control and supervise Horticultural activities. • Attending and resolving guest complaints. • Verification of supplies consignments. • Approval of the Functional Manual of the department. • Daily inspection of public areas and employees locker rooms. • Coordinating the preventive maintenance schedule of rooms and public area with maintenance department. • Immediately attending to guest requests. Managerial • Trains, cross –trains, and retrains all Housekeeping personnel. • Participates in the selection of Housekeeping personnel. • Supervises workload during shifts. • Evaluates the job performance of each Housekeeping employee. • Maintains working relationships and communicates with all departments. • Receives information from the previous shift manger and passes on pertinent details to the oncoming supervisor. • Conducts regularly scheduled meetings for Housekeeping personnel. • Assesses the effectiveness of team members, provides candid, fair feedback on a regular basis, and continuously works with employees to bring out their best. • Monitors acceptable employee performance and documents situations in the Housekeeping Department that require or could lead to disciplinary or corrective action. Completes and maintains appropriate paperwork for employee files in the Housekeeping Department. • Formulate work schedules on a weekly or monthly basis and outline each team member’s work duties. • Upholds the hotel's commitment to hospitality. • Prepare performance reports related to Housekeeping. • Ensure logging and delivery of all messages, packages, and mail in a timely and professional manner. Standards • Ensure that rooms are made as per Best Western standards. • Develop and implement Housekeeping systems and procedures according to BW Standards • Maintains master key control.
• At least three years’ experience in a similar capacity / function in an international four star hotel • Supervisory Skills, including experience managing a team • Up to date with housekeeping trends and best practices • Experience in Laundry operations • Strong Customer Service skills • Excellent Communication skills • Experience in Hiring and training housekeeping staff • Attention to detail and organizational skills • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment • Knowledge of cleaning techniques and products • Adaptability: coping with the diversity of customers and their needs • Availability: working nights, weekends and public holidays • Self-control: handling complaints • Cultural awareness and sensitivity
