Structural Engineer

Overview

In order to deliver structural and civil projects from their scoping stage through their execution, start up, and turnover stages, it is necessary for the planning, engineering, construction, and project management departments to support the business. This includes the Operations Services, Process Operations, and Mine Operations departments.

Responsibilities

Planning and Reporting for Projects: • Plan, schedule, and coordinate project activities using the Newmont Capital Effectiveness Stage Gate approach from the scoping phase through the implementation phase. • Make sure engineering design deliverables adhere to project criteria and standards by coordinating with engineering consultants. Design Structure • Calculate and measure the loads and pressures brought on by human or environmental influence. • Utilizing tools for computer-aided design, create structural models. • Carry out structural engineering design work (including design for concrete, steel, and wood) and make sure that all engineering deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with project specifications and standards. • For non-electrical infrastructure projects, carry out engineering design work in compliance with project specifications and standards. • Create, manage, and mentor CAD technicians to generate deliverables for engineering design. • Observe the safety regulations for construction. Support for Engineering, Construction, and Management • Give thorough instructions for the suggested solutions, taking into account the time and scope required. • To support the bid package, prepare the engineering and construction scope of work. • Create cost estimates and carry out economic analyses to bolster project business cases, which should include the creation of AFEs. • Support field engineering and construction management by visiting the project site, assessing contractor work, looking for design flaws, and making sure the work complies with the specifications. • Create proposal documents for use in construction and engineering bids. • Help the other department engineers in developing working prototypes of suggested fixes and presenting them to other team members.

Requirements

• B.Sc. degree in a relevant subject, such as civil engineering. • Must be a member of Ghana, a recognized organization for engineering professionals. • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, STAAD Pro Software and or any other Structural/Civil design software. • Manuel structural design calculations. • Minimum of 5-year experience with continuous structural design works. • Must have experience in working on real estate housing/resettlement housing project in mining industry. • Must have experience in working on foundation, concrete, steel and portal framing designs in the mining industry. • Project engineering and construction experience. • Must have handled multiple of designs at the same time. • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills. • Advanced communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. • Advanced computer literacy skills - MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), and SAP. • Advanced information monitoring and management skills. • Advanced planning, organizing and prioritizing skills. • Strong business continuity management skills. • Strong capacity planning skills. • Strong decision-making skills. • Strong time management skills. • Strong leadership skills. • Strong coaching and mentoring skills. • Strong conflict management and influencing skills. • Strong project management skills. • Strong personnel administration skills. • Sound needs analysis. • Sound change management skills.
