Overview
We are looking for a reliable and experienced Machine Operator for a Graphic Design And Printing Company who will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining printing and finishing machines to produce high-quality printed materials according to client specifications. This role ensures efficient workflow, minimal downtime, and consistent output quality in alignment with company standards for safety, precision, and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor printing and finishing machines such as offset printers, digital printers, cutters, laminators, binders, or folding machines.
- Read and interpret job orders, artwork files, and layout instructions to ensure accurate printing specifications (colour, size, paper type, quantity, etc.).
- Conduct test runs, make adjustments for ink density, alignment, and registration to ensure print quality.
- Inspect printed materials for defects, colour accuracy, and finishing quality, making corrections as needed.
- Maintain machines through regular cleaning, lubrication, and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
- Report machine malfunctions or breakdowns promptly and coordinate with maintenance staff for repairs.
- Monitor material usage and minimize waste of ink, paper, and other supplies.
- Follow company safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Assist in loading and unloading materials and finished products as required.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and suggest process or equipment enhancements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or HND or technical/vocational training in printing technology or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience operating printing or finishing machines in a commercial printing environment.
- Experience with digital, offset, or large-format printers is an advantage.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret printing specifications, color guides, and artwork files.
- Basic computer literacy (knowledge of RIP software or digital printing interfaces is a plus).
