The Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist (M&E Specialist) will be in charge of gathering information on student assessments and teaching quality from more than 200 schools in Ghana's Ashanti, Greater Accra, Volta, Eastern, Oti, and Western regions.
• To collect pertinent information on school quality and evaluate enhanced school leadership schools, poll school owners once a year. • To evaluate the calibre of education, teaching ideas, and classroom strategies, conduct yearly classroom observation (COB) activities. • Assess literacy at the student level with elementary school pupils using the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) assessment instrument (it is highly encouraged if you have conducted ASER assessments in Ghana before). • Assure timely, thorough, and accurate recording of the data gathered. • On occasion, assist with additional data gathering and documentation requirements as the implementation team requests them. • Work along with the MEL Associate to pinpoint areas where learning outcomes need to be improved as well as trends and patterns. • Work together with parents, instructors, school owners, and other interested parties to encourage participation in development projects and to make data gathering easier. • Create and preserve fruitful partnerships with government organizations and partner organizations engaged in the activity of low-cost private schools. • Attend conferences and meetings as a representative of the organization to exchange ideas and district-level lessons learnt.
• A bachelor's degree in social sciences, education, or a similar discipline • Prior experience using digital surveys and observation to gather data. • Extremely proficient with tablets, laptops, and other devices the capacity and willingness to travel in order to gather data. This will entail setting up lodging and public transportation. • While not necessary, prior experience in the school sector—including completing ASER learning assessments—is highly preferred. • Strong motivation to acquire and enhance technical and analytical abilities. • The capacity to act and function autonomously to achieve goals with little daily guidance from management. • Innovative problem solver who uses critical thinking skills to provide original answers to challenging issues and effectively conveys those answers.
