Backend Automation Engineer

Overview

Automation Engineer is responsible for developing, testing, and optimizing automated processes in backend systems. They focus on improving efficiency, reliability, and scalability through automation tools, scripts, and frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Create, manage, and enhance backend system automated testing frameworks. • Using Rest Assured and associated technologies, create and run automated API tests for RESTful apps. • Use JMeter for API load testing to examine application performance and locate bottlenecks. • To increase service quality and scalability, work with cross-functional teams that include product managers and engineers. • Create and manage Java test scripts with technologies such as JUnit or TestNG. • Use tools like Charles Proxy to diagnose performance issues and do backend testing for SOAP/REST APIs. • Implement automated testing in CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions, or comparable technologies. • To validate tests and ensure data correctness and integrity, use SQL to query databases. • Utilise Jira or other bug tracking solutions to handle and document faults. • Encourage security testing, performance testing, and ongoing enhancements to test automation procedures. • To improve testing effectiveness and coverage, make sure the code is of high quality and take part in code reviews.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a similar discipline, or comparable real-world experience. • Three or more years of backend automation testing expertise, with an emphasis on API testing. • Strong Java skills and practical expertise with Rest Assured and related frameworks for automated testing. • Adept at using API testing tools for performance testing, such as JMeter, Swagger, Insomnia, and Postman. • Strong knowledge of testing techniques, best practices, and the software testing lifecycle (STLC). • Knowledgeable about SQL and capable of querying and validating information from relational databases. • Knowledge of AWS and experience with cloud-native technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
