Overview

The Caterpillar Technician will be in charge of maintaining and repairing CATERPILLAR equipment, as well as performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, and ensuring that heavy-duty machinery run smoothly.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, such as oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication. • Inspect the equipment for wear and deterioration. • Use diagnostic instruments and software, such as CAT ET (Electronic Technician), to diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues. • Analyse error codes and analyse performance statistics. • Perform mechanical repairs on engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems. • Replace any damaged or worn out components. • Address electrical concerns such as faulty wiring and sensors. • Install new components or upgrade existing systems to boost equipment performance. • Perform retrofits to satisfy new safety or operational requirements. • Test the equipment after it has been repaired to confirm it is functional. • Ensure that repairs satisfy manufacturer specifications and safety norms.

Requirements

• Experience with Caterpillar diagnostic tools, such as CAT ET. • Problem-solving: The ability to diagnose and resolve difficult mechanical and electrical problems. • Physical fitness: The ability to lift big objects and operate under difficult situations. • Communication: Ability to clearly convey technical aspects to consumers or team members. • A diploma or degree in mechanical engineering, heavy equipment technology, or a similar discipline. • A thorough understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and heavy machinery.
