STRUCTURAL, MECHANICAL, PLATEWORKS AND PIPING (SMPP) SUPERVISOR

Overview

All structural, mechanical, plate work, and plumbing aspects of the Mine's installations and construction will be supervised and managed by the SMPP Supervisor. The incumbent will make sure that contractors carry out construction in accordance with approved designs and drawings as well as corporate policies and standards.

Responsibilities

Oversee and manage a group of welders, boilermakers, fitters, and fabricators as they complete structural installations and related tasks.
Work together with contractors, architects, and engineers of record to offer the technical support required for the mine's approved for construction (AFC) drawings and designs. 
Make sure that all projects are carried out in accordance with the contractors' approved quality management plan and the mine's quality control plan. 
Examine the site specification and offer assistance and support to make the work of the project contractors easier. 
Make sure that all quality control tests and checks are started successfully and that all records are kept up to date so they can be accessed when needed.
Examine every job that the company, its contractors, and its subcontractors complete to make sure that all project specifications and legal criteria are met.

Conduct regular audits of contractors to ensure they maintain safe working environment and that they are held accountable for their safety practices; Assist your supervisor to develop a quality control policy and ensure its implementation across all project sites.

Prepare construction specific procedures and work instructions to guide all project undertakings.

Maintain effective processes to ensure that projects are completed within approved budgets and timelines whilst ensuring compliance with company health and safety standards.

Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor within the scope of the role.

Requirements

Must hold a mechanical or structural engineering degree, or the equivalent, from an accredited university.
Requires at least five (5) years of practical experience in plate works, plumbing, mechanical, and structural tasks in a mining or similar setting, two (2) of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.

Must be computer literate with working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suit (word, excel, power-point) and database management.

 Must possess good project management skills.
