Overview

The Site Safety Officer is in charge of making sure that all safety rules, guidelines, and policies are properly followed on the building site. In order to prevent mishaps, safeguard employees and visitors, and uphold adherence to regional and federal safety regulations as well as industry standards, this position is essential.

Responsibilities

• Verify adherence to all firm safety rules and construction safety regulations. • To guarantee compliance, periodically evaluate and update the site's health and safety rules and procedures. • To find any risks or safety infractions, conduct daily site safety audits and inspections. • Keep an eye on the area to make sure the right safety gear—such as PPE, signage, and fire exits—is being used. • Examine events and mishaps, record results, and offer suggestions for remedial measures. • When necessary, create risk assessments for different jobs. • Make certain that first-aid protocols, emergency evacuation plans, and other emergency protocols are practiced and presented in a clear and concise manner. • Provide safety instruction to both new and current workers and contractors. • Through frequent training and communication, raise understanding of safety regulations and best practices. • Make sure that every accident, injury, or safety incident is documented and looked into in detail. • To comply with regulatory bodies, keep thorough and accurate safety logs, reports, and records. • As needed, prepare safety reports and send them to management and regulatory bodies. • Keep an eye on PPE availability and usage throughout the site. • Make certain that all workers and subcontractors receive proper PPE training. • Check PPE for wear on a regular basis and make sure it is maintained or replaced properly. • Create and carry out emergency response plans for a range of situations, such as chemical spills, fires, and medical crises. • Make sure the location has emergency supplies and first-aid kits that are stocked and conveniently located. • Participate in or lead emergency response exercises, and evaluate protocols for enhancements following each incident.

Requirements

• It is preferred to have a degree or diploma in occupational health, safety, and the environment, or a similar discipline. • Health and safety certifications, such as IOSH, OSHA, and NEBOSH, are necessary. • Three years or more of experience in a safety-related position, ideally in facilities management, construction, or hospitality. • Familiarity with performing incident investigations, risk assessments, and safety audits. • Strong familiarity with risk management, OSHA regulations, and health and safety procedures. • Outstanding communication skills, both in writing and speaking. • The capacity to recognise risks and offer workable solutions.
