Upholstery

Overview

We are seeking a talented upholsterer to create and repair upholstery for our clients. This position involves collaborating with clients or design agents, selecting suitable materials for each project, and ensuring the installation of upholstery meets specific requirements. You may also be tasked with disassembling and reconstructing furniture when the upholstery is being replaced.

Responsibilities

• Possess comprehensive knowledge of contemporary upholstery techniques. • Exhibit strong attention to detail and the ability to visualize design concepts. • Consult with clients and design agents to understand their upholstery needs. • Interpret design specifications and create templates for upholstery. • Select and source appropriate materials for upholstery. • Disassemble furniture as needed for upholstery work. • Accurately measure and cut fabric or leather using design templates. • Apply foam and batting to the furniture structure. • Repair and install seating springs and furniture webbing. • Stretch and install fabric or leather coverings. • Secure fabric using stitching, gluing, or nailing techniques. • Smooth out any imperfections in the finished product. • Perform quality checks on completed projects to ensure they meet standards.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an upholsterer. • Strong design and artistic abilities. • Keen attention to detail. • Ability to read and create design templates. • Familiarity with upholstery tools, such as hot knives, sewing machines, and nail guns. • Capability to lift and move heavy items.
