We are seeking a dedicated, qualified, and experienced programme accountant to provide accounting support to our project team. This role involves preparing project budgets and generating financial reports. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in accounting and the ability to offer accurate financial information to project managers. A successful project accountant ensures smooth financial operations and provides reliable financial reports for donors and regulatory bodies. The candidate should align with the organization's values and be comfortable collaborating with team members, external stakeholders, and young people. The position is within the Finance and Accounting Unit, and flexibility in working hours is required.
• Maintain accurate financial records and process accounting transactions. • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reconcile bank accounts. • Assist in the development of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis. • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and submit statutory returns on time. • Collaborate with the payroll team and support bank account management. • Contribute to audits and implement cost-saving measures to support team objectives. • Support accounts payable, receivable, and fixed asset management. • Monitor expenses and ensure they align with the budget.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. • Professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, ICA, or CMA. • 5-10 years of experience as a project accountant or similar role. • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems. • Knowledge of IFRS preferred. • Strong skills in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with MS Office Suite. • Experience in the NGO sector is a plus. • Strong attention to detail and accuracy. • Excellent organizational and time management skills. • Proactive, analytical, and collaborative approach. • Strong work ethic and team player. • In-depth knowledge of accounting best practices. • Advanced proficiency in managing general ledgers, journal entries, and reconciliations. • Commitment to the organization's mission, vision, and values.
