By carrying out in-depth financial analysis, due diligence, and market research to find and assess investment opportunities in startups and SMEs throughout Africa's food systems, the investment analyst will be in charge of assisting the company's investment strategy while making sure that it is in line with organisational goals and investment criteria.
• Determine and assess possible investment opportunities. • Perform preliminary vetting of investment ideas. • Keep a pipeline of possible investments open. • Conduct thorough financial models and analysis. • Make valuation evaluations • Get investment memorandums ready. • Oversee and direct the due diligence procedures. • Examine market prospects and business models. • Evaluate dangers and ways to mitigate them. • Track the performance of the portfolio companies. • Create portfolio reports on a regular basis. • As required, assist portfolio firms
• A bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, economics, or a similar discipline is required; an MBA or CFA is preferred. • Three or more years of experience in private equity, venture capital, or investment analysis • Strong knowledge of startup ecosystems and marketplaces for African food systems. • Demonstrated expertise in financial modelling and valuation techniques. • Experience in due diligence processes, investment documents, market research and value chain analysis. • Familiarity with a range of investment products and transaction formats. • Knowledge of impact investing and ESG principles. • Expert competence with Excel and financial analysis tools • Strong interest in the value chain of the food system. • Investment memorandum writing. • Risk management, monitoring, and reporting, as well as risk assessment.
