TRANSPORTATION SUPERVISOR

Overview

The Transport Supervisor oversees and coordinates all aspects of transportation activities, including scheduling, routing, fleet maintenance, and driver management to ensure timely and safe delivery of goods or passengers.

Responsibilities

Route Planning and Scheduling:

• Develop efficient transportation routes to optimize delivery or passenger pickup.
• Schedule drivers and vehicles according to delivery requirements and customer needs.
• Monitor routes and make adjustments as needed to ensure on-time delivery and cost-effectiveness.

Fleet Management:

• Maintain and manage the company's fleet of vehicles, ensuring they are in good working condition.
• Coordinate regular maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime.
• Manage fuel usage and expenses to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.

Driver Supervision:

• Recruit, train, and supervise drivers, ensuring they adhere to company policies and safety regulations.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to drivers.
• Address any issues or concerns raised by drivers promptly and effectively.

Compliance and Safety:

• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
• Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to minimize accidents and injuries.
• Keep abreast of changes in transportation laws and regulations and update company policies accordingly.

Communication and Coordination:

• Liaise with other departments such as logistics, warehouse, and customer service to coordinate transportation activities.
• Communicate with drivers, dispatchers, and other relevant personnel to ensure smooth operations.
• Handle customer inquiries and resolve any transportation-related issues in a timely manner.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of transportation activities, including driver logs, vehicle inspections, and delivery schedules.
• Generate reports on key performance metrics such as on-time delivery rates, fuel consumption, and maintenance costs.
• Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Requirements

• Proven experience in transportation management or a related field.
• Knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards, and best practices.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in using transportation management software and MS Office applications.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record (if required).
• Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field (preferred).
