MINE DISPATCHER

Overview

To efficiently deploy our fleet and maximize the utilization of equipment to enhance mining operations performance, ensuring real-time equipment monitoring and updating mining data regarding stockpiles, dumps, and road networks. This involves coordinating with Radio Maintenance and IT for Air Wave and Network management systems, analyzing data, and supplying information to support short-term and long-term planning, Mine Operations, Mine Maintenance, and Geology departments.

Responsibilities

Dispatch Planning                                     

- Coordinate and oversee shift operations at the Akyem pit, including drilling, loading, hauling, and projects, with the aim of optimizing assets.

- Assist the Dispatch Engineer in planning the biennial outlook for the Fleet Management (Dispatch) session.

- Monitor the flow of information within the Fleet Management System (FMS), analyze data, and utilize it for short-term, medium-term, and long-term planning.

- Contribute to the refinement and enhancement of Dispatch processes.

- Receive targets from the Dispatch Engineer for tonnage, fleet performance, and lifespan to meet organizational profit objectives.

Fleet Management

- Support the training, implementation, and operation of the Fleet Management System, incorporating both low and high precision Global Positioning System (GPS) technologies.

- Coordinate mining equipment activities to optimize production.

- Manage equipment downtime to maximize operating time.

- Implement best practices for efficient equipment and operator changeovers.

- Generate reports and analyze data to propose productivity enhancements.

- Monitor equipment warnings, misroutes, exceptions, and messages from operators, ensuring proper prioritization of excavators or shovels.

- Monitor mine maps and traffic control systems, providing assistance to operators with any issues.

- Gather and analyze best practices from other sites to assess their potential implementation onsite.

- Promptly communicate dispatch and fleet failures to the Dispatch Engineer.

Dispatch Optimization

- Maintain and optimize reporting systems and servers.

- Utilize Jigsaw Software to optimize truck and fleet usage.

- Enhance equipment utilization and usage to achieve peak performance in Mine Engineering.

- Implement control measures and interventions to maintain or enhance performance.

- Identify opportunities for system performance improvements and cost savings, communicating these to the Full Potential team and management.

Stakeholder Communication

- Collaborate with Engineering, Process, Geology, Mine Operations, Maintenance, and Human Resources to validate event accuracy and durations, correlating this information with data in the Fleet Management System.

- Coordinate with Mine Maintenance to ensure equipment health and maintenance.

- Liaise with Mine Planning to access historical data for future projections.

- Communicate with the Primary Crusher Controller to determine required material blending for crusher feed.

Health and Safety Management

- Adhere strictly to internal Newmont health and safety standards.

- Ensure staff compliance with Newmont health and safety principles.

- Provide hands-on support during operations, ensuring adherence to safe work practices.

- Attend monthly safety meetings and uphold safety standards.

Requirements

Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):

- Bachelor's Degree in Mine Engineering.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and application software.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, troubleshooting, planning, organizing, prioritizing, and technical reading skills.

- 1-2 years of experience in open-pit mining.

- Familiarity with Fleet Management systems, Truck Dispatching systems, and Structured Query Language reporting interfaces.
