In addition to making sure the business conforms with all applicable rules and regulations, the Legal Specialist will be in charge of offering legal advice and support on a range of corporate and commercial matters. Along with managing litigation, credit collection, and contract drafting, review, and negotiation, the internal lawyer will also assist the management team with all legal matters that impact the company.
• Offer legal advice on matters pertaining to company governance, employment law, commercial contracts, credit collection, and adherence to national and international legal frameworks. • Make sure the business complies with all applicable corporate legislation and regulations. • Inform management about legal opportunities and hazards pertaining to company activities. • Numerous contracts, such as non-disclosure agreements, employment contracts, vendor agreements, and service agreements, among others, need be drafted, reviewed, and negotiated. • Make sure contracts abide by relevant regulations and reduce the company's exposure to legal risks. • Handle and supervise business disputes, including working with outside legal representation. • Act as the company's representative in negotiations, legal actions, and regulatory affairs. • When appropriate, settle conflicts through mediation, arbitration, or negotiation. • Provide legal support for corporate governance operations, including board meetings, shareholder meetings, and company policies. • Create and update legal papers, such as meeting minutes, resolutions, and bylaws for the business. • Determine any legal risks and create plans to reduce them. • Make sure the business is adequately insured against all legal responsibilities. • Keep an eye on any changes to laws and regulations that might have an effect on the business. • Verify that the business complies with all industry-specific rules, such as those pertaining to health, safety, and the environment. • Employees should receive legal and regulatory training, covering risk management and compliance.
• A law bachelor's degree (LLB) from a recognized legal institution. • It will be advantageous to have a Master of Laws (LLM) degree or professional qualifications in business or corporate law. • Three years minimum of experience in all areas of law, with a focus on corporate, contract, and credit collection. • A track record of success handling litigation, designing and negotiating contracts, and providing legal and regulatory advice. • Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks, contract law, and business and commercial law. • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. • The capacity to handle several projects at once and perform well under duress. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with meticulousness. • Competence in conducting legal research and knowledge with legal software and databases. • A Ghanaian law practice license.
