Overview

The Company's environmental, health, and safety compliance shall be managed and overseen by the health and safety manager. This position is essential for reducing risk, keeping regulatory compliance, and guaranteeing a safe working environment for all workers and contractors. In order to foster a culture of safety and guarantee that all health and safety laws are properly followed, the health and safety manager will create and execute policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Create, put into effect, and uphold health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with regional, global, and local laws. • Make sure safety rules are current and effective by reviewing and updating them on a regular basis. • Create and administer health and safety education courses for staff members and outside providers. • Encourage employees to be conscious of safety and make sure they are all familiar with safety protocols. • Conduct investigations, record events, accidents, and near-misses, and offer suggestions for preventative actions. • Ensure that incident and safety performance metrics records are correct. • Create emergency response strategies, put them into action, and practice them frequently. • Make sure that first aid supplies and emergency equipment are kept up to date and easily accessible. • Encourage employee participation in safety initiatives and best practices to help the company cultivate a culture of safety consciousness. • Provide direction and assistance to staff members and serve as a point of contact for any issues pertaining to health and safety.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, occupational health and safety, or a similar discipline. • It is preferred to have a professional health and safety certification (such as IOSH, OSHA, or NEBOSH). • Five years minimum of experience, ideally in the mining industry, in a health and safety management capacity. • Strong familiarity with risk assessment, event investigation, and health and safety legislation. • Outstanding interpersonal, leadership, and communication abilities. • The capacity to operate alone and oversee several projects in a changing setting. • Proficiency with tools and software for health and safety management.
