Metallurgical Engineer

Overview

The metallurgical responsibilities at the Mill, CIL, and elution fall under the supervisory purview of this role.

Responsibilities

• Verify that all of the CIL parameters—pH, density, carbon profile, DO and cyanide concentration—are within the permitted range. • Verify that the range of the solution and solid residues is acceptable. • Make that the flowmeters, densitometers, online pH meters, DO meters, cyanide analyzer, CIL and tails auto samplers, and flowmeters are all operational at all times. • Assure the CIL department has spare parts available for all required equipment so that repairs can be completed quickly. • Make sure both fresh and circuit carbon undergo quarterly carbon quality checks. • Reach the temperature range of (640 to 700oC) in the regeneration kiln. • Review the elution, generation kiln, and CIL log sheets every day, and take care of any issues that come up. • Compile the data needed for the weekly inventory of reagents and provide the Laboratory Specialist the necessary quantities. • After an inspection, escalate any requests for maintenance on metallurgical equipment. • As part of QA/QC, take part in routine belt cut sampling to verify weightometer results. • Assure the preparation and execution of preventative maintenance plans to optimize the performance and economic viability of laboratory apparatus. • Make that the metallurgical and assay laboratories have finished all follow-up and remedial tasks that have been allocated to them. • Make that the SOP is followed while doing the monthly GUC. • Complete daily input for metallurgical accounting.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in extraction mining or a related field. • At least four to six years of expertise in plant operation and management, assay and metallurgical laboratory procedures, and metallurgical practice • Familiarity with and comprehension of legal requirements pertaining to environmental protection and worker safety in the mining sector. • Practical understanding of cost management and budgeting in a process setting • Excellent written and vocal communication abilities. • Excellent digital literacy and personal computer abilities. • Competent with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Projects, and Excel.
