The Operations Director - Security and Risk is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of security and risk management within an organization. They develop and implement strategies, policies, and procedures to safeguard the organization's assets, employees, and operations. This includes assessing potential threats, conducting risk analyses, and developing mitigation plans. They lead a team of security professionals, manage security budgets, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective security measures. - Develop and implement security and risk management strategies, policies, and procedures to safeguard the organization's assets, employees, and operations.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the security and risk management department, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and threat analyses to identify potential vulnerabilities and security gaps, and develop mitigation plans accordingly.
- Lead the development and implementation of crisis management and emergency response plans, ensuring readiness to address and mitigate security threats and incidents.
- Manage security personnel, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation, to ensure a highly skilled and effective security team.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as executive management, legal, and human resources, to assess and address security and risk-related issues.
- Liaise with external partners, including law enforcement agencies, government authorities, and security service providers, to enhance security measures and responses.
- Monitor and analyze security-related data and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of security measures and identify areas for improvement.
- Provide guidance and support to business units and departments on security and risk management matters, promoting a culture of security awareness and compliance.
- Develop and manage the security and risk management budget, allocating resources effectively to support organizational objectives.
- Stay informed about emerging security threats, trends, and technologies, and recommend proactive measures to mitigate risks and enhance security posture.
- Serve as the organization's primary point of contact for security and risk management matters, representing the organization in meetings, forums, and events as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as security management, risk management, criminal justice, or a related discipline. Advanced degrees or certifications such as CPP (Certified Protection Professional), CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), or CISM (Certified Information Security Manager) may be preferred.
- Extensive experience in security and risk management roles, preferably in a leadership capacity, with a demonstrated track record of success.
- Strong understanding of security principles, practices, and technologies, with knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Experience conducting risk assessments, threat analyses, and developing mitigation strategies.
- Proven ability to lead and manage security teams, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with internal stakeholders, external partners, and law enforcement agencies.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to develop and implement security and risk management strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
- Proficiency in budget management and resource allocation, with the ability to effectively manage security budgets and allocate resources to support security initiatives.
- Familiarity with crisis management and emergency response procedures, including the development and implementation of response plans.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze security-related data and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of security measures and identify areas for improvement.
- Flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing security threats and operational requirements.
